Binghamton Christmas Tournament - Jan. 3/4: The varsity beat Cortland by 1, then lost to a hot-shooting Central Baptist by 19 to become the second seed. On Saturday, we played the 1-seed Binghamton - other side of bracket - and won by 10, then played Hudson Valley for the title. After 1 quarter it was 26-4 - yes, and we had the 4! But we came back and were down by 3 with a minute to go, but couldn't keep it up and lost by 8, taking second place. So 2-2 for tournaments!
Binghamton - Dec. 20: The varsity go back on the winning track, defeating the Blaze 48-41. The Blaze took their first lead late in the 3rd quarter, by one, but strong foulshooting allowed the Wolfpack to finish with a win, and move their record to 4-1, 2-0 in the conference. Greg Cleghorn lead in scoring (10) and board (9), and Luke Freeman had 5 steals. The JV boys also won. For Binghamton, Brad Ellis lead all scores with 15 points.
Ross Corners - Dec. 16: The varsity lead by 3 after 1 quarter, but never go really going, and lost 66-59 against a very good shooting team (55%). Ben had a double-double, with 25 points, and Tim had 8 boards/7 steals and no TOs. The JVs owned the boards and won their second game of the season.
New Life - Dec. 13: The varsity boys made it 3-0 with a solid game, especially the 3rd quarter, which sealed the win. Greg lead with 17 points, AJ with 11 boards and Tim with 4 steals. A good game with everyone contributing.
George Jr. Republic - Dec. 9: The boys JV came from behind to get within 1 point late in the fourth quarter, but turnovers killed the rally and they lost a close game. 1-2. The varsity jumped out to a 38-16 lead at halftime, but it was down to 3 points with 2 minutes to go in the game! Success against the press and timely foul shooting sealed the win, 67-62. AJ had a complete game (9 assists, 5 steals, 6 boards, 13 points), and Ben had his first double-double: 10 board and 20 points. 2-0.
Rochester - Dec. 6: The varsity boys started their season a bit ragged (as can be expected), but got stronger in the 4th quarter and won, 63-50. Irvin had the most complete game, Ben just missed a double-double, Greg stood out on defense, and Coleman help us with some key baskets off assists. The JV started fast, but the offense stalled in the second half, and they went on to lose the game.
